Networking

Networking

In the past, consumers went through life with one computer in the house or none at all. Now most households have 2, and many have up to 4 computers. Networking allows you to share one high-speed internet connection throughout your household or business. It allows you to share files, printers, and other information with co-workers and/or family members.

There are currently two types of networking: wired and wireless. ComputerWorks has experts on staff that can adapt your home or business quickly and easily to either type of network.

Wired Networking consists of a router and network cards in all of your computers which are connected together with 10/100/1000 ethernet cable. We have the ability to quickly get everything up and running, with file and printer sharing for your entire network. Wired networking is faster between systems than wireless but you lose the freedom of movement. For a home or office network with large files, needed security, and guaranteed productivity, a wired network installed by ComputerWorks is the only way to go.

Wireless Networking is easy and more convenient for your home. All that is required is a wireless router and wireless access cards in all computers. For the desktops you need wireless PCI cards or USB wireless adapters. Most laptops come with wireless adapters built in; however, if your laptop is not equipped with built-in wireless, we have PCMCIA wireless adapters as well as USB adapters to fill the need. If your network is going to be primarily used for gaming, then a combination network of wired and wireless is required.

At ComputerWorks we are experts in all aspects of networking from wired, to wireless, to servers, to internet VPN networks. So call us to handle all of your networking needs.
